World Music Day

Issaquah is making music on  June 21 in celebration of World Music Day (Fete de la Musique).  World Music Day is the one day a year people around the world celebrate the importance of music in our lives through free, open and accessible events throughout the U.S. and the world.  World Music Day is celebrated in over 700 cities and 100 countries when musicians take to the streets, sidewalks, and parks to play. Entire communities come out to listen, dance, and join in making music. Each community organizes its own events, and each celebration has a distinct expression.

In Issaquah, musicians are taking to the streets in downtown.    With over sixteen venues and 30 artists participating, you’ll be able to listen to music all night long.  Venues include City Hall, Train Depot, the Issaquah Library, Pedestrian Park, Tiger Mountain stage (North of Pelage Spa), Music and Arts,  Issaquah Senior Center, Art by Fire, artEAST, Capri Cellars, Yum-E Yogurt and the Historic Shell Station.

Performances range from music school recitals to blue grass, hard rock and jazz.  None of the performers are being paid and all are contributing their time for free.
