Olde Town Mine Hike

Did you know that downtown Issaquah used to be the site of massive coal mines? Sign up for our Olde Town Mine History Hike! Join IHM history hike leader, Doug Bristol, in exploring the mining history that continues to shape downtown Issaquah. Get a new perspective on the Olde Town neighborhood through historic photos, maps, and observation of the changing landscape.

This loop walk will cover the recently re-done area near the Issaquah Creek dam and Mine Hill areas before returning to the Depot. This is a moderate hike with some steep sections on well-developed gravel and paved trails. Participants meet at the Issaquah Depot Museum.

The walk will be held rain or shine. Bring water and snacks, and wear appropriate hiking shoes. We love dogs, but this particular hike is for people only. Please leave your canine friends at home.

To help ensure that the hike is safe and enjoyable for all, participation is limited to a maximum of twenty guests. All participants must register through Eventbrite. No “add-on” guests or children under ten years of age can be accommodated on this hike. All persons under eighteen years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

More information is a available by contacting the Issaquah History Museums at 425-392-3500 or info@issaquahhistory.org.

This program is made possible by funding from 4Culture.
